I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience. My approach as a psychotherapist incorporates the belief that in therapy we are not merely undoing symptoms that cause discomfort (doubt, depression, grief), but understanding how those symptoms manifest and affording ourselves agency over whether they manifest in the future. My graduate training in San Francisco centered around the idea that psychotherapy is a relational and collaborative process; it is one that includes both the science of psychology as well as the art and philosophy of listening closely to another’s experience, desires, and motivations. A few concepts that apply to this approach and to my training are contemporary psychodynamic and neuropsychoanalytic theory, relational and attachment theories and intersubjectivity, social justice and advocacy, and the therapeutic nature of creativity and the creative process.
